Pupil Premium Grant

What is Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium is additional Government funding provided to schools to help raise attainment amongst disdvantaged children.

It is allocated according to the number of pupils on roll who:
  • are eligible for free school meals (FSM);
  • are children of service families;
  • have been ‘Looked After’ (in care) for 6 months or more.

In 2012, funding was extended to include pupils who have been eligible for free school meals within the past 6 years.

It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils within their responsibility. However, schools are to be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low income families.

From September 2012, this information must be published on the school website. Please see below for information regarding how the pupil premium income was spent in the last financial year, the impact of this funding, and the plans for future spending.

Funding for 2017/18 = £391341 for 282 students (£1320 per eligible child)

The website is currently being edited, for my detailed information please contact Kate McDonald.

Other links below will provide you with further information to help you understand the background to Pupil Premium and how we, as a school, have spent the additional funding to improve provision and target interventions for the benefit of all.

We cannot emphasise enough how important it is to register with school for Free School Meals if your children are eligible. Please see the School Meals page for more information

Sports Premium Grant

What is Sports Premium?

Tameside Primary School understands the importance of Physical Education supporting the health and well-being of our children and the positive influence it can have.

The Government is providing  a sum of money annually to all schools annually to help them develop sports provision within school to increase participation is sports activities. This money presently equates to £8000 per school per year plus an additional £5 per child.

This additional funding will help us to extend our provision through the employment of staff to help support this aim to deliver quality P.E for the needs of our children.
